Since the days when man was daubing images on cave walls, graphic representation of facts and figures has been important. In the Internet age, infographics — as the field is now widely known — have taken on a new scope. Social media, in particular, abounds with visualized information relating to trending topics as diverse as politics, business, economy and sports. There are infographics representing stats relating to social media usage itself and even infographics showing infographic trends. The types of infographic also vary, with the static variety still the most prevalent at present, mainly because they are the easiest to create and host. Their relative simplicity also affects the ease with which they can be downloaded, uploaded and reposted via various social media.

Flash-based motion graphics and interactive presentations are increasingly common. The latter are especially popular in editorial content where multiple layers of information can be displayed in a single interface. The obvious drawbacks are the incompatibility of Flash with Apple devices and the fact that the text can’t be indexed by search engines. 


資訊圖表──行銷新利器

從人類在洞穴牆壁上塗鴉的日子開始,以圖像表現的資料與數據就變得很重要。在網路時代,現在廣為人知的資訊圖表領域已進入一個新的領域。社群媒體尤其充斥著視覺化資訊,內容涉及如政治、商業、經濟和體育等各種熱門話題。有些資訊圖表呈現社群媒體本身的使用數據,甚至也有顯示其本身趨勢的資訊圖表。資訊圖表的類別也有所不同,靜態的類型在目前仍最常見,主要是因為這一類最容易製作及存放在伺服器上。這種資訊圖表由於相對簡單,因此不論下載、上傳,或是透過各種社群媒體重新張貼也都比較容易。

以 Flash 設計的動態圖像與互動式呈現愈來愈常見。後者在評論式內容當中尤其受到歡迎,因為多重層次的資訊能在單一的介面中顯示。Flash 明顯可見的缺點就是和蘋果的裝置不相容,其中的文字也無法被搜尋引擎編入索引。
