Next Media sale expands influence of Taiwanese entrepreneurs (2012/10/16)

台塑王家第二代的掌門人王文淵也是辜仲諒入主壹傳媒的幕後推手，傳統產業的台塑為何投資媒體？引發外界關注，不過目前是台塑集團總裁的王文淵，並不是台塑第一位有興趣經營媒體的人，包括王永慶二房子女王雪紅和王文洋都已經擁有電視台。

股東會上談景氣，儘管面對歐債風暴，王文淵一派輕鬆，現在傳出王文淵幕後出資，襄助辜仲諒入主壹傳媒，王文淵的大動作出資一反過去台塑王家的保守作風，也讓外界跌破眼鏡。
不過王文淵並不是第一位王家對媒體有興趣的人，王永慶的二房子女當中，王雪紅在2011年和私募基金砸下336億元買下香港TVB26%的股權，成為台灣有線電視頻道TVBS的最大股東。

而另一個對媒體早有興趣的，是王永慶的二房長子王文洋，這幾年積極佈局有線電視發展，目前擁有國衛電視，還積極想要併購有線電視頻道。

The economic situation is still poor, and we can still feel the effects of the financial crisis. But I am conservative, not pessimistic.
Despite the lingering European debt crisis, William Wong was measured at his company’s shareholders’ meeting back in June. In these difficult times, it seems he has made a major move. Reports say Wong, along with Jeffrey Koo, Jr., has invested in Next Media Entertainment Services. The purchase comes as a major surprise.
Wong is not the first member of his family to dive into the media. His cousin Cher Wang is part of a group that invested NT$33.6 billion to buy a 26 percent share of Hong Kong’s TVB. The group is the largest stakeholder in the company that owns Taiwan’s TVBS.

Another member of the family with media aspirations is Winston Wong. He holds GSTV and is working to acquire more cable TV stations.
