Apple unveils its new iPhone 5

iPhone5亮相

號稱史上最輕最快最薄的iPhone，台北時間今天凌晨一點鐘，正式在美國加州發表了。這款賈伯斯去世後問世的新手機，定名為iPhone5，最快九月底美國就買得到，不過台灣大概要到十一月才會上市。

賈伯斯去世後第一款iPhone手機，12日在舊金山登場。iPhone5的規格多半已在預料之中，包括和iPad一樣、搭載4GLTE無線網路，同時採用A6處理器、新的連接埠和新尺寸的SIM卡，比較大的改變是背改雙色設計、螢幕也從3.5吋加長成4吋，明顯向目前三星和hTC等主流尺寸靠攏。

不過不少科技編輯卻覺得，這次的發表會似乎少了一點驚奇。有專家認為，歷經五年的生命週期，iPhone正從硬體走向軟體的革新。

面對Android來勢洶洶，庫克希望iPhone5能在競爭激烈的智慧型手機市場，逆勢而上。而iPhone5最快九月底美國就買得到，不過台灣大概要到十一月才會上市。

After much anticipation, Apple has finally unveiled the new iPhone 5. It is advertised as the lightest, fastest, and thinnest iPhone ever and should go on sale in the United States by the end of September. Consumers in Taiwan will probably have to wait until November before they can get their hands on it. 

The first new iPhone to be introduced since Steve Jobs died was unveiled in San Francisco on Wednesday. The iPhone5’s specs were as expected. It has LTE 4G functionality, like the iPad, an A6 dual-core processor, a smaller connection port and a new SIM card size. The biggest changes are its dual color casing in the back and a bigger screen at 4-inches high, moving closer to mainstream sizes offered by Samsung and HTC.

But many technology editors felt that the iPhone 5’s launch was missing a “wow” factor. Some experts said that after a product life-cycle of five years, the iPhone is now evolving from hardware to software.

Cook is hoping that the iPhone5 can stem the fierce competition Apple is facing from Android models. The new model is expected to go on sale in the United States at the end of September, but it’s not expected to be available in Taiwan until November.
