Chinese hairy crabs back on Taiwan shelves following ban (2012/10/02)

大閘蟹陸續上市！為了搶攻市場，不少超商早在九月就已經讓民眾，先行預購台灣大閘蟹。而睽違6年的中國蟹，今年也再次進口到台灣。
一箱箱保存在5度C，來自江南太湖的大閘蟹，經過兩天運送，終於來台。業者親自教導消費者如何分辨新不新鮮。

不過六年前中國蟹，因為被驗出含有致癌禁藥，不少饕客還記憶猶新，這回真的安全嗎？

賣場搶攻中國蟹市場，至於超商則是主打台灣味！OK和全家便利商店，早在九月就開放民眾預訂，銷售兩個星期業績扶搖直上，也讓漸感秋意的時節，多了點蟹味！
Hairy crab season has begun. This year customers can buy crabs imported from China after a six-year ban ended following a food scare.
After two days shipped at 5 degrees Celsius, these crates of hairy crabs arrived in Taiwan from China. The store representative tells customers how to distinguish between crabs that are fresh and not fresh.

But not everyone is willing to eat China’s hairy crabs. Six years ago they were found to contain carcinogenic chemicals that were both prohibited.

In China they test for things like malachite green, nitrofurans or their metabolites. When the crabs come here we also check them.
While some hypermarkets are turning to Chinese crabs, convenience stores are generally still buying local. OK and FamilyMart began taking preorders last month. Business has been steadily rising over the last two weeks. The crabs show that autumn has arrived.
