Popular fast food chain has no choice but to lower prices (2012/10/03)

先前鬍鬚張魯肉飯漲價一事，被批平民美食一點也不平民，讓業績二個星期內掉了一成以上，因此今天董事長張永昌公開向消費者鞠躬道歉，並宣布調回原價。

鬍鬚張自9月16日起調漲魯肉飯、雞肉飯、湯品等品項，漲幅5.3％至7.7％，大碗魯肉飯要68元才吃的到，引發民眾不滿，生意大受影響，才短短兩個禮拜，業績就掉一成，因此現在決定調回原價，以息民怨。

還好業者能聆聽民眾的心聲，不過調回原價後，原本3到4%的利潤，將再少1%，但此價格能持續多久，鬍鬚張也不敢保證！
Angry customers have convinced the chain restaurant Formosa Chang to cancel price hikes. Today its chairman apologized to the public for the price changes that brought a simple dish of braised pork with rice to NT$68.

Our sale of small portions of braised pork and rice saw an impact of about 10 percent.
Formosa Chang raised prices of braised pork and rice, chicken and rice, and soup between 5.3 and 7.7 percent on Sept. 16. For example, a bowl of braised pork and rice went from NT$64 to NT$68, leading angry consumers to phone in and protest. After just two weeks, business declined 10 percent. It decided to go back to the old prices.

We should feel the suffering of the people and feel their pressure. We should applaud them for lowering prices.
The company has been willing to listen to the people, but going back to original prices means that the company’s 3 to 4 percent profits will shrink by a percentage point. There is no guarantee how long Formosa Chang can survive.
