Government shows public its new anti-terrorism system (2012/10/03)

反恐監視牆

配合美國開放免簽，移民署也耗資七億元，成立了"恐怖份子資料篩濾"中心， 這個監控單位建置在桃園機場，能跟全國的機場港口做即時連線，即時監控入出境旅客的動態，今天首度開放媒體採訪，要證明台灣反恐的能力。

牆上一整面的電視牆，顯示來自全國各港口機場的即時畫面，這裡是移民署的入出境監控中心。

配合美國開放免簽，移民署新成立的出入境監控中心，無論是傳統的人工通關，還是自動通關，都在全程掌控。過去人蛇常利用轉機偷渡，現在飛機起飛前或落地後，監控中心也能和美方連線，從比對資料比對中抓出漏網之魚。

移民署的反恐監視系統，耗資七億打造，滴水不漏就是要告訴美國，台灣具有反恐監控的實力，請美國放心開放免簽。

Among the many steps Taiwan took to obtain visa waiver status from the United States was building a new anti-terrorism monitoring system. Today it showed the NT$700 million system to reporters for the first time. 

The TV wall shows images from each of Taiwan’s ports and airports. It is a government monitoring center for entry and exit.

We have enhanced anti-terrorism cooperation with the United States. Here is a screening center established by the National Immigration Agency to assist in anti-terrorism efforts. It contributes to securing our borders and raising our investigative and arrest capabilities.

This agency uses this center for traditional entry handled by person and new automatic screening methods. It was established so Taiwan could secure visa-free entry for its citizens to the United States. In the past illegal immigrants have often relied on plane transfers to sneak into Taiwan. Now before planes take off or after they land, the monitoring center can link with the United States to compare data, thereby plugging holes.

By sharing information we can bring investigations to the next stage. The National Immigration Agency’s border security capabilities for ports and airports left a deep impression on the United States.

The agency spent NT$700 million building its new anti-terrorism monitoring system. Its purpose was to demonstrate Taiwan’s anti-terrorism capabilities so the United States would be willing to add Taiwan to its Visa Waiver Program.
