China bans pigeon releases, opening cab windows ahead of National Congress (2012/11/02)

中國新一代領導人,將在8號的十八大正式產生,為了讓十八大能順利進行,北京當局採取了許多安全措施,除了安排大批公安上街盤查,還下令要求計程車把車窗搖桿拆除,不讓大家有機會從車上丟任何反動傳單。

在北京坐計程車裡竟然不能把車窗搖下,這種擔心有人從車窗丟反政府傳單的怪規定,計程車司機卻很聽話。

“我們司機接到通知後全拆了”
除此之外,北京大街上處處可見公安,在廣場上檢查百姓的身分證,如果遇到外國觀光客,也要求他們出示護照以便盤查,當地民眾說好。

“我覺得沒有影響我,挺正常的 挺好的 應該要加強一點”
規定還不只這些,菜刀和削鉛筆機,被當局下令店家暫停販售。空中的威脅也不能有,現在想到玩具店裡買遙控飛機,得先到警局登記,拿到許可證才行。

為了要確保安全,當局還禁止任何人放氣球和鴿子,勢必要讓中國第五代領導人順順利利接班。

To make sure the event stays on message authorities are taking a wide range of steps, from securing cab doors and windows to banning the release of pigeons and balloons.

When taking a cab in Beijing, there’s no way to open the windows. Authorities are paranoid that someone will throw anti-government propaganda out, so they told cab drivers to take precautionary measures.
Cab Driver “When we drivers received the notice, we all removed the levers.”
On the streets and in the squares of the capital, the police are checking the IDs of Chinese citizens. When they see foreign tourists, they ask to see their passports. Intrusive? Maybe. But many Chinese citizens seem OK with it.
Beijing Resident I don’t feel it affects me. It’s normal and it’s good. They should be stricter.
There are more rules. Authorities have told shops to suspend sales of knives and pencil sharpeners. And they are instructing toy shops that people must register at a police station before buying a remote control plane. Officials don’t want any surprises from the sky.
Toy Shop Owner Remote control planes don’t fly very far, and they can’t carry much of a load. But if they tell us we can’t sell them, we won’t sell them.
Authorities have also banned the release of balloons and pigeons. They are determined to have the upcoming transfer of power appear as smooth as possible.
