Singapore’s public housing goes green (2012/11/11)

綠色國宅

新加坡有高達八成以上的居民，都住在公營住宅裡，為了響應環保與永續發展的國際趨勢，當局大手筆打造了一座綠色公營住宅社區，下面就來看看，裡頭有什麼奧妙之處。

這裡是新加坡第一座綠色公營住宅實驗社區 , 從遠處看，和一般公營住宅沒什麼兩樣，但通風設計可是暗藏玄機。

除了要歸功於這片綠色屋頂，調節了大樓的溫度，大樓的白色外牆，也發揮了降溫效果，還能把自然光引到室內，而且外牆的塗料，還有自我潔淨功能，因此不怕髒。

而屋頂上的太陽能板，則是採用租借的方式，除了開設成本是由政府負擔，其它像是安裝、維修、還有供電收費，都是交由私人業者一手包辦。

不只大廳的照明、電梯都是由太陽能發電，牆面上還架設了電子顯示器，不但用電量一清二楚，還可藉此提振住戶的節能意識。而座落在各棟大樓中間的中庭花園，除了可以降溫，還有吸收噪音的功效。

In Singapore, nearly 80 percent of the city state’s residents live in public housing. This has led government officials to advance sustainable development principles in its newest public housing projects, creating new environmental awareness in Singapore. 

This is Singapore’s first green public housing district. From far away, it looks like any other public housing area, though there seems to be a special design when it comes to ventilation.

In addition to this green roof which helps regulate the temperature of the building, the walls of the building are also painted white, which has a cooling effect and also brings natural light inside. Keeping white walls clean is quite difficult, but the paint has a self cleaning feature, so it won’t get dirty.

We put in various eco friendly features that capitalize on the wind, greenery, reducing energy consumption, water usage, how to promote waste recycling etc, all in one development.

The solar panels on the roof are leased, helping the government reduce the cost of this facility, and other work such as installation, maintenance, and electricity charges are all handed over to private contractors.

The lighting in the living room as well as electricity for the elevator is generated through solar power, and this garden in the middle of the public housing block also helps reduce the temperature of the area and absorb noise.
