Entertaining Edinburgh　趣味盎然的愛丁堡藝術節


　　We all dream of having a vacation at times. People need to get away, and Edinburgh is a fun place for everyone. Edinburgh is an old city in southeast Scotland. It is built on seven hills and the most famous is Castle Rock. It has been named as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is known as one of the most suitable places in the world to live.
　　One of the reasons Edinburgh is so much fun is because of its exciting events. There are many things to see and take part in throughout the year. August is a particularly interesting month. Each year, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe invites countless people from all walks of life into the world of arts. It is the largest art festival in the world and focuses on the performing arts. This mostly means theater and comedy, but dance and music are widely seen as well. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is open to everyone, so you never know what you will experienceeach year. The festival lasts nearly the whole month, so you will have a lot of time to explore. 

 

　　我們都夢想偶爾能來場假期。大家都需要抽身出去走走，而愛丁堡就是個老少咸宜的有趣景點。愛丁堡是一座位於蘇格蘭東南方的古城。它建於七座山丘之上，當中最著名的景點即為城堡岩。愛丁堡被稱為世界上最美麗且最適合居住的城市之一。
　　愛丁堡如此有趣的原因之一，是因為擁有眾多令人興奮不已的活動。整年都有許多值得欣賞及參與的活動。八月則是特別有趣的月份。愛丁堡藝穗節每年都會邀請無數各行各業的人來參與藝術活動。它是世上規模最大的藝術節，而且著重於表演藝術。這意味著戲劇及喜劇表演為慶典大部分的重點，不過舞蹈及音樂表演也相當常見。人人都能參加愛丁堡藝穗節，所以您每年都無法得知自己將會有什麼新體驗。這項節慶持續將近整整一個月，所以有許多時間可讓人盡情地探索發掘。

藝穗節由來
　　藝穗節源起於1947年英國愛丁堡藝術節期間，當時有八個藝術團體未獲主辦單位的邀請，於是他們便決定自行籌製演出，與藝術節的表演分庭抗禮。他們以藝穗Fringe自居，結果大受歡迎，發展至今六十多年來，Fringe已成為全世界最大、最受歡迎的藝術節活動。藝穗節的精神，就是以開放自由的理念，接納演出的團隊。意指參加的表演者均未經評審或挑選，即可加入年輕藝術家出人頭地的全新場域。
