Tensions flare as PRC flag briefly appears at protest (2012/09/23)

保釣大遊行

由民間發起的保釣遊行，今天下午到日本交流協會遞交抗議信，遊行隊伍除了新黨親民黨參加，參與的統派團體喊出兩岸聯手保釣，還有人揮舞五星旗，路過的民眾，看不下去，當場拉扯，破口大罵。

保釣遊行才在集結，遊行民眾就為該喊釣魚台是中國還是台灣的，吵起來
來參加遊行的中國籍配偶，乾脆這麼回答。

“就是我們的主權啊，兩岸人民一起的，台灣政府比較弱一點，中國政府比較強硬”

比較兩岸處理釣魚台的方式，台灣被質疑對日不夠強硬，遊行隊伍就出現這樣的口號

“我覺得釣魚台在地緣上，是屬於中華民國，但我也贊成(兩岸聯手處理保釣)，我們的軍力國家的強盛力，我們跟他講話，日本人頭昂昂的，根本就不理會我們(台灣)”

遊行隊伍除了中華民國國旗，五星旗也出現，有民眾看不下去

遊行經過日商百貨，抵制口號都出口，除了統派團體，新黨跟親民黨也參加此次保釣遊行。

遊行隊伍變走邊喊，這趟遊行的目的，是要到日本交流協會遞交抗議信，最後完成順利畫上休止符。

Protestors angered by Japan’s purchase of the Tiaoyutai Islands held a mass demonstration in front of the Japan Interchange Association in Taipei. Some were surprised by the presence of a few of pro-unification supporters as the PRC flag appeared briefly, upsetting some protestors. 

The Tiaoyutai Islands dispute spurred a particular debate amongst protestors quarrelling over whether the Tiaoyutai Islands belong to China or Taiwan. Some mainland spouses participated in the protest, offering this simple explanation.

It’s our sovereignty and belongs to people across the straits. Taiwan’s government is a bit weaker, while the Chinese government is relatively tough.

Protestors offered slogans to encourage Taiwan to be tougher in negotiations with Japan over the Tiaoyutai Islands dispute.

I think the Tiaoyutai Islands in a geopolitical sense belong to the ROC, but I am also in favor of (cross-strait cooperation on the Tiaoyutai Islands). Our nation’s military force is sufficient and when we talk to them, the Japanese continue to act bravely, and they simply don’t care about (Taiwan).

While there were many ROC flags flying at the parade, the PRC flag also appeared, drawing a strong reaction from many.

The protest passed a Japanese department store, with some shouting slogans to boycott Japanese exports. Aside from the organizers, the New Party and PFP also joined the parade.

The ultimate destination of the protest parade was the Japan Interchange Association in Taipei where protestors submitted a protest letter, before peacefully concluding the protest for the day.
