More than 50 years after Tsuyako Matsumoto sent a set of traditional "hina" dolls to U.S. President John F. Kennedy, she was thanked by Caroline Kennedy, his daughter and current U.S. ambassador to Japan.
在松本豔子將一組日本傳統「女兒節」人偶,寄給美國已故前總統約翰.甘迺迪50多年後,她獲得甘迺迪的女兒、現任美國駐日本大使卡洛琳.甘迺迪的感謝。
On Feb. 26, the 92-year-old received a letter of appreciation from JoEllen Gorg, principal officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Sapporo, on behalf of Ambassador Kennedy.
2月26日,92歲的松本收到美國駐札幌領事館總領事裘艾琳.葛洛格代表甘迺迪大使給她的一封感謝信。
The ambassador’s letter read: "I am so happy to be able to bring the dolls back home and to display them at the embassy as a symbol of the friendship between our two countries."
大使在信中寫道:「我很高興能把這些人偶帶回家,將它們展示在大使館裡,象徵貴我兩國的情誼。」
Matsumoto viewed a video message recorded by Kennedy in which the dolls she sent all those years ago appeared on screen with the ambassador.

"Oh, how cute," Matsumoto said, as she dabbed away tears with a handkerchief.

Gorg handed Matsumoto a bouquet of flowers, saying, "I have been looking forward to meeting you."
葛洛格送給松本一束花,並說,「我一直期待與您見上一面。」
