More Taiwanese are entering the field to make money (2012/10/08)

New taxes on stock gains and real estate have led more people to undertake investment in whisky, red wine and even sorghum liquor. More collectors have raised the price of some bottles of rare French wine to as much as NT$220,000.
Each bottle in this wine cabinet costs a minimum of NT$10,000. These bottles are not for personal enjoyment. They have been bought to be part of a collection.

(One customer) told me that he has both made and lost money on stocks, but has never lost on wine.
The impact of the luxury tax and stock investment tax has led to a boom in investments in alcohol in Taiwan. For example this 1982 bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, which was purchased in 1983 for NT$3,500, now sells for NT$220,000.

For a top quality French wine, its value can increase three to five times, and its value goes up each year.

Every year wine production is limited. So when there is great demand and limits to the amount produced, the value of wine collections increases.
Aside from choosing the right wine, one must also be careful about the storage as wine is sensitive to changes in temperature. Too much of a change could cause it to lose its value. The most suitable temperature for storing wine is below 18 degrees.
