A US politician campaigning for tighter restrictions on location tracking via mobile devices has had his bill approved by a Senate committee.

The Location Privacy Protection Act would require firms to get customers’ permission before collecting location data or sharing it with third-parties.

US researchers found patients with gout who ate cherries over a two-day period had a 35% lower risk of attacks compared to those who did not. The study in Arthritis & Rheumatism said cherries contain anthocyanins, antioxidants which contain anti-inflammatory properties.

Solo rock stars are twice as likely to die prematurely as counterparts who perform in groups, a study published in the journal BMJ Open said.
