The sister of the U.S. ambassador to Libya killed in Benghazi said she doesn’t blame Hillary Clinton for Chris Stevens’ death, instead pointing to Congress for under-budgeting the State Department.
在班加西攻擊中殉職的美國駐利比亞大使克里斯．史蒂文斯之妹說，胞兄之死她不怪（時任國務卿的）希拉蕊．柯林頓，反而把矛頭指向國會未能提供國務院充分預算。
"I do not blame Hillary Clinton or Leon Panetta（for Stevens’ death）," Dr. Anne Stevens, who has acted as a spokesperson for the family, said in an interview with the New Yorker published Tuesday.
「（史蒂文斯之死）我不怪希拉蕊．柯林頓或（時任國防部長的）里昂．潘尼塔，」擔任該家族發言人的安．史蒂文斯醫生在紐約客週二刊出的一篇訪問中如是說。
"But what was the underlying cause? Perhaps if Congress had provided a budget to increase security for all missions around the world, then some of the requests for more security in Libya would have been granted," she added.
「但事件的根本原因為何？也許國會要是能提供一份增加全球各地所有駐外單位之安全的預算，利比亞（的外交單位）就能得到其所要求的更多安全措施，」她補充道。
Stevens said that her brother fully understood the risks of his mission in Benghazi but thought it was too important for the U.S. to have a presence in Libya for him to not be there, emphasizing that it was "something he took on himself."
安．史蒂文斯說，她哥哥完全了解班加西任務的風險，但認為美國在利比亞有駐外人員至為重要，他不可能不待在那裡，並強調這是「他主動承擔的責任」。
