Ready Player One is set in the year 2044 in a world that suffers from too many people, pollution, and climate change. To escape the cruel reality of everyday life, most people log into an online virtual reality game called The Oasis where they can live out their fantasies. When the game's billionaire creator dies, he leaves behind his fortune to anyone who can find his treasure in the game. After a teenager named Wade Watts discovers a clue to finding the fortune, he realizes that he may be in over his head.
