The Islamabad High Court in Pakistan’s capital issued an order Monday that banned the celebration of Valentine’s Day across the country ’with immediate effect.’ It also directs the media not to promote or cover Valentine’s events.

巴基斯坦首都伊斯蘭城高等法院週一發佈一項命令，禁止全國慶祝情人節， 而且「立即生效」。該命令也指示媒體不要宣傳或報導情人節活動。

The order was a response to a private petition which argued that Valentine’s Day was contrary to Islamic teaching. According to the Dawn newspaper, the petition argued that the festival promoted immorality, nudity and indecency .

這項命令是為回應一項私人請願，它主張情人節與伊斯蘭教義相左。據巴國「黎明報」報導，這項請願認為，這個節日促進不道德、裸露和猥褻。

Valentine’s Day has grown in popularity in many cities in Pakistan over the past decade, but some religious groups have denounced it as decadent. Many religious hardliners believe Valentine’s Day is a foreign idea with no roots in Pakistan. They argue that it is essentially a Christian festival.

過去10年來，情人節在巴國許多城市漸趨流行，但部分宗教團體譴責此為墮落。許多宗教強硬派人士認為，情人節是外來理念，並未根植於巴國。他們主張，情人節本質上是基督教節日。

The country’s president Mamnoon Hussain, made a statement in February 2016, asking Pakistan’s not to celebrate the day since it was "not a part of Muslim tradition, but of the West."

巴國總統馬姆努恩．胡笙曾在2016年2月發表一份聲明，要求巴國民眾不要慶祝這個節日，因為它「並非穆斯林傳統的一部份，而是西方傳統。」
