用對「假設語氣」

 

在商用信件裡，if和would/could+ have p.p.是最常見的「假設語氣」，if常用做假設可能發生的事，句子用「現在」或「未來」表示，例If the company earns more than 1,000,000, year-end bonuses will be doubled.（如果公司賺超過一百萬，年終獎金將會加倍）。本句前後時態差異是為了突顯事情先後的條件。would/could + have p.p則表示和過去發生的事情相反，例如The sales number would have gone up if it had not been for the natural disaster.（要不是自天災，銷售數字應該會上升。）
