Big layoffs ahead as Next TV sold to ERA (2012/10/01)
壹電視裁員
之前一直傳出要出售的壹電視，下午公司正式向員工發出公告，表示將賣給年代董事長練台生。最讓員工人心惶惶的是，新老闆明年接手前，壹傳媒共有好幾波人事裁員，預計一共資遣504人。
10月1日，下午三點整點新聞，動新聞主播宣布自家公司將賣給年代董事長練台生，並中止壹網樂即時影音服務，主要是因為被NCC冗長核准程序拖延，又被持續阻止在有線系統上架，因此集團選擇最好方式，就是與現有的營運者合作。

新老闆接手前，壹傳媒也將大動作人力重組，包括壹電視將分三批裁撤300人，壹多媒體則裁撤部門資遣204人。

最早黎智英來台，是想向練台生買年代，因為買不到才在2009年成立壹電視經營，沒想到，黎智英最後卻是把一手創立的壹傳媒，賣給了練台生。
Next TV will be sold to the chairman of ERA Communications. The landmark deal will let Next Media spin off its loss-making broadcast news unit. In the process 500 jobs will be cut and Next TV’s view on demand service will end.
On Oct. 1 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, a news anchor for Next TV announced the sale of her company to Lian Tai-sheng, chairman of ERA Communications. As part of the deal, Next TV’s view on demand service will end.
Next TV has suffered heavy losses. It cites the continued refusal by the National Communications Commission to approve a broadcasting license to air content on cable TV. The parent company Next Media therefore decided to sell the unit to a company that already has a license.

Next TV and Lian Tai-sheng have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The two sides expect to sign a formal contract to switch ownership within the next month and hope the transaction can take effect in January.
Major changes are in store before the handover takes place. About 300 employees will be laid off in three waves. Next Multimedia Entertainment will be eliminated, costing another 204 people their jobs.

We were planning to streamline much earlier so Next TV could overcome problems associated with cable TV operations. Probably starting from today to the end of the year, we will gradually carry out this streamlining plan.
Next Media Chairman Jimmy Lai came to Taiwan in 2009 in hopes of buying ERA Communications. Lian Tai-sheng would not sell, so Lai founded Next TV. Now Lai is the one selling.
